Office of Performance Management and Open Data

Gain work experience while working for the best (we think) office in the city.

Here at the Office of Performance Management and Open Data we our interns.

  The Internship

We want our internships to be mutually beneficial for the interns and the office. Interns will gain greater insights into how the city operates and expands their real world use of data to drive change.

We typically mentor through job shadowing (inviting interns to important meetings and discussions) and making ourselves accessible and open for questions and interruptions. We are not the type to sit someone down and lecture but prefer to show by doing rather than telling.

  • Performance Internship, works with the city's performance management program to increase the effectiveness of the city’s delvery of service using data and performance analytics.

  • Open Data Internship, works with the city's open data program. Typically, interns focus their work on making it easier to find and use open data but this can also include some technical data work if you are into that stuff.
  • Peak Academy Internship, works with the Chattanooga Peak Academy which seeks to give front line workers the tools and knowledge to fix city systems. This is done through training and coaching on the use of lean and continuous improvement tools.

  Skills That Pay the Bills

We are seeking interns who are curious, mission driven and proactive who can help improve our current performance, open data and training programs.
